Looks in Southport, NC

While I was in Southport, North Carolina I really wanted to wear fun, bright outfits. Usually, I wear neutrals and steer away from any sort of color. It sounds absoultely insane but I think colorful pieces of clothing can clash with my red hair. Mark my words, you will never catch me in purple, bright pink or orange, I swear my hair would clash with those colors horribly. Do I sound crazy? I’m very specific on what I will wear. My mom is the same way. I guess you could say daughter like mother? But, down south I felt as though I needed to wear color (nothing too crazy of course). In my opinion, the south radiates bright colors. I wanted to wear really fun looks while I was there, it’s vacation after all.

Now I may of completely contradicted myself so bottom line: bright colors are not my favorite, but down south I felt the need to wear some subtle color. Make sense?

So my first outfift I will continue to call my “tablecloth outfit.” Thank you Chris for pointing out this outfit looks identical to a tablecloth your family used to have. From a boys perspective I can totally see the whole “tablecloth” look.

Personally, I think this outfit is so fun. My favorite part was the back, it ties into a bow which I LOVE. Gingham is a super popular pattern this year and I am so for it, even if it looks like I’m wearing a “tablecloth.” I paired this outfit with my white and beige Jack Rogers.

Outfit two I actually bought as a two piece. The pants actually have the cutest matching top that ties in the front.  I was with my family and didn’t want to show too much skin (& I also wanted to save the full outfit) so I paired it with a white v-neck and tied it on the bottom. I think it turned out so cute! My mom bought me statements earrings from Jazzy Jane’s Boutique. They are so beachy and I love them. For shoes I wore Steve Madden sandals with a chunky, small heel.

Outfit is from a local boutique so I can’t link exact. Click here for a similar look.

Southern Stripes

I bought this from Molly and Zoey, a local boutique, but I found the set online! Click here.

Had to add a picture of the bar we ate at the last night in Oak Island. I can’t remeber the name but it was so cute and so yummmmmy!

Must Have Summer Accessories

Summer is just about here but not quiet yet, it leaves plenty of time to stock up on some accessories for summer. Just in time for summer I put together some of my must have accesories, and I also included tips on saving on all of these items. For my secrets on saving money when shopping click here.

First up is a plain baseball cap. I wear baseball caps nearly everyday during the school year, but in my opinion they’re essential to my wardrobe during all seasons. A simple white baseball cap would match anything on days you’re just to lazy to wear makeup or have your hair done.

My second must have are statement earrings. I am obsessed lately with statment earrings because they make a simple outfit exciting and different. To me a perfect outfit is denim jeans or shorts, a simple white tee, statement earrings and espadrilles. That SCREAMS summer to me. So the problem is that statment earrings can be pricy and in my opinion they’re more of a seasonal summer/spring piece. I wouldn’t reccomend Romwe for clothing BUT for earrings you only wear a few times out of the year they have a great selection. Romwe has plenty of dupes for Baublebar statement earrings. Don’t get disscouraged by Romwe’s website, it can be chaotic, you really have to search for a good pair of earrings. I reccomend Forever21‘s as well! Ill attach below the pairs I bought and recommend.

Next up are bandanas. Bandanas are similar to statement earrings in my opinion. They dress up any plain outfit and add a fun touch to your hair. I know Madewell, Princess Polly, Nordstrom and Urban Outfitters have some good ones if you look for them!

My favorite summer shoes (other then my Jack Rogers) are Espadrilles. Everyday I find I pair I am in love with. The pink pair below I recently bought at a local boutique and I’m obsessed. I love the look of them and they’re just so practical because they go with almost everything. The flatform gives an even 1-2 inches to your height, perfect for someone short like me. The pink pair definitely needed some breaking into around the toes but it was well worth it. The pink pair comes in a number of colors. Espadrilles seem to be like last summers Mules trend (which I still love). The blue pair are surprisingly from Forever21, I love the look of them and the navy will go with almost anything.

I found all these pieces through the app Dote. It is perfect for when your’re looking for specific items because it searches for the product through all the stores featured in the app (which are most stores). The app lets you know when your favorite items go on sale and you can reedem coins each day for free shipping and more!

Pop of Red

It’s been quite some time, but I am back! The chaos of getting ready for my freshman year of college has finally settled and now I am just shopping for some dorm necessities. I took some time out to travel to Asbury Park, New Jersey (about a half hour south of me) to take some pictures and enjoy good food. I’ve talked about Porta before on here but in case you missed it, it’s a trendy, Italian hotspot for shore loving New Jerseyans. Click here for my last post at Porta.

This time around I took some pictures with one of my best friends, headed to Porta for lunch and then indulged in delicious vegan ice cream at a shop called Cookman Creamery.

My outfit I wanted to keep really, really simple. I wanted the outfit to revolve around the bright red mules. You can get them here for only $21. I am obsessed with them because they’re not only super affordable but they make any simple outfit pop. I stuck with classic, silver accessories to match the metal around the pockets of my white skirt. My top is a simple, plunging, grey body suit and again, super affordable. Outfit details are below!

Grey Bodysuit: Boohoo (now $6)

White Skirt: Lucky Clover

Necklaces: Gifted

Rings: Alex & Ani

Shoes: 2020Ave
