Thoughts on the Coronavirus

– Journal entry during quarantine –

COVID entry

Covid,

I followed by your rules for more than a year and the second I let my guard down, you chose to strike. I don’t blame myself but I am having a hard time with it all.

I did what I thought was right and what health leaders told me to do. I wore my mask when I felt appropriate, I got my vaccines, I did everything I could to prevent this. I did too many to count news stories on COVID and its impact and even in practicing what I preached, I fell victim to thinking this was somewhat over. Where do we even go from here? Nearly two years too long.

You took away time with my family, time in my hometown, and the holiday. As I try to wrap my head around it all and its unfairness, I get angry. I’m sick of this.

When is enough for you, covid? At a certain point, we can’t all just freeze our lives. We have to move on and move forward.

Even as I sit here trying to gather my thoughts and wrap my mind around this all, I feel like I have no place to talk (or write). Hundreds of thousands of lives lost, impacted, and then so many frontline workers, giving their lives – I can’t imagine.

Honestly, it’s not until having the virus that I feel like I can really see and feel the severity of it. The aching head pain, body aches that I’ve never experienced and a temperature that felt debilitating, all of this, and I’m considered a lucky one.

This is a message to say I’m with you all impacted. I’m confused, I’m angry and wondering when enough is enough.

I want to move on after my 10 days of quarantine, but I can’t help going into 2022 with fear, concern, and doubt.

If there’s anything we can all relate on, it’s that we’re all trying to navigate this. One day, we will be able to say we beat this.

I don’t have the answers, I don’t know what to do anymore, but I pray a better year is ahead.  Remember to be kind through this.

Home for my college graduation

Wooo! I did it!

I wanted to share some pictures from my college graduation. If you follow me on social media (@oliviaschueller), you know I’m now living in Alabama. If you really keep up, you know I moved here for work.

After being here for several months, I did start to get a little homesick. Luckily, graduation was in May, and I was able to come back to NJ and CT for the celebration!

I’m so fortunate Quinnipiac had an in-person graduation. It was bittersweet to officially end my college chapter. I had the BEST possible experience and wish it never ended.

It felt so weird to be in AL working one day and then in home in NJ the next. I’ve been away for so long but going back to my home in NJ and then my college house in CT, it felt like I never left!

If you want a good laugh, check out this blog post. I reflected on my entire freshman year…where has the time gone! Another throwback blog post, 10 things I wish I knew as a freshman in college.

Anyways…I hope you love these pictures as much as I do. I’ve said it a thousand times and I’ll say it again…I’ll never be able to express my gratitude for my college experience at Quinnipiac. I know I’ll be back someday!

Easter, spring outfit 2021

Happy Easter!

First Easter in Alabama for me. I went to mass in Downtown, Huntsville and then went for Sunday brunch. A laid back and relaxing Easter. I loved every second of it, but it’s weird to have my first holiday away from family.

I wore a colorful springy maxi dress that I got YEARS ago. I think it just never felt like a dress I’d wear in New Jersey, but now living down south, I feel like it’s totally a southern Easter dress. Right?! I’m happy I wore it, especially in the gorgeous warm weather! Perfect dress for the occasion.

This coat has been featured on the blog before and it’s back! I love this casual winter outfit, it’s an effortless look that I don’t see going out of style anytime soon.

Again, super affordable and definitely keeps you warm. HIGHLY suggest!

These leather leggings have been my go-to and elevate an outfit. I love the zipper detailing and they’re truly so comfortable, from Princess Polly. I linked a similar pair, below.

I wore a simple black turtleneck, and I paired it all with a burgundy bakers boy hat. The bakers boy hat is no longer available either, but I linked a super cute and affordable one from Amazon.

Outfit details are below!

Last fashion post, here.

Graphic t-shirt dressed up for on the go!

– Winter graphic t-shirt outfit –

I love oversized graphic t-shirts SO much! If you know me, you know my go-to for graphic t-shirts is CottonOn men’s shirts. They’re super affordable and looked like Urban Outfitters $70 graphic tees.

You can see my graphic t-shirt guide, here.

I loved pairing this fun and colorful graphic t-shirt with this oversized coat (which not to mention the coat was under $40 from TARGET…yup, I know). You can find it, here! Mixing the colors with a neutral patterned coat like this works! It’s also a super fun look. I paired it with black leather leggings just to add more edge to the outfit.

I think you could swap this graphic tee with ANY other tee and it’d work. Sometimes mixing and matching like this really looks good together. I think it works! Paired with some white platform sneakers and you’re out the door!
