Weekend Girls Trip
Weekend girls trips are a MUST for summer. Like I said in my summer activities post, weekend girls trips are the best, short getaways for the summer. They allow you to unplug and really spend quality time with your best friends.
So this weekend we headed to Jersey City for the night. My friend Jess’s sister lives in Newport with her fiance, and they kindly invited us to stay for the night and go out on the town. Let me tell you, they’re living the life! Their apartment looks over the water and the New York City skyline. It has an insane balcony that allows you to take it all in.
I worked in the city until 5:30 p.m. then I walked to the 33rd street station and took the path into Newport. I told my friends I was pretending I was walking back to my apartment in Jersey City (LOL, just dreaming).
After we all settled in, we walked to an amazing downtown like area. It reminded me of how I picture Nashville to be. I’ve never been to Nashville, but in my head, this area of Newport is how I imagine Nashville to look and feel. Does that make sense?
So we headed back to the apartment, played fun card games and went to bed.
The next day was my favorite day. We walked to an adorable side street restaurant and passed beautiful brownstone homes on the way (I love how everything is walkable)! The restaurant had a huge brunch menu and it all sounded so yummy, I was having a hard time choosing what to get. I ended up getting avacado quinoa toast. I wasn’t expecting this, but the quinoa toast was fried quinao in the shape of bread, it was SO good and different.
Then we walked back to the apartment and were on our way home! It was a super short weekend girls trip but we did so much in a short amount of time. A huge thank you to Jess’s sister taking us to all the best spots in Jersey City and housing five girls for a night!
It looks like this was the last summer weekend girls trip 🙁 until next year!
My next post will have all the details on my outfit!

Transitioning from summer to fall fashion
Don’t shoot the messenger but fall is just about to be here. This means fall fashion trends are just starting up. Before we know it, we will be putting away the two piece swimsuits and pulling out the sweaters.
Fall is my favorite season AND my favorite season to dress for. I’m already eyeing some pieces and scoping out upcoming fall fashion trends.
The pieces I’ve been eyeing are good pieces as you transition from summer to fall. These amazon prime joggers actually popped up as an advertisement on my instagram. I loved them! These joggers make for a perfect transitional piece from summer to fall. The material seems to be lightweight, airy and the color is a warm light beige. This color is a fall and summer staple. Joggers don’t seem to be going out of style anytime soon, so yes, I consider them a fall fashion trend.
Mini hand bags are coming in, CALLING IT NOW! This isn’t necessarily a fall fashion trend, but it can be! Especially if the color of the bag is warm toned. Lauren Elizabeth (an influencer) posted with a white mini, vintage like purse on Instagram. I thought it was so cute! Now, I’m seeing them everywhere, especially at TopShop and Zara. This bag instantly caught my eye. The light pink color is my favorite, and the tortoise detailing is a simple touch, perfect for fall. The mini bag comes with a strap if you want to use it as a cross body too. This piece is definitely an acquired taste, but I’m loving this bag for fall (without the strap). It’s my favorite fall fashion piece, as of right now.
I’ve always been a huge tortoise fan. I love the neutrals tones in it. I’m in love with these heeled sandals. The tortoise mixed with the black screams fall to me. Yes, they’re sandals, but you can definitely get away with wearing these to a dressier/night event in the fall season. They’re a close second to the mini purse when it comes to fall fashion trends I’m eyeing! Also noticing that strappy heeled sandals in general are becoming a popular fashion trend. With this summer fashion trend being neon everything, I’ve seen a bunch of heeled strappy sandals. Heading back to school soon, I know I don’t need these tortoise heeled sandals (heels get super dirty at college FYI) but UGH.
Rompers are ALWAYS a good bet for any occasion. As I’m transitioning into fall I still want to wear rompers but because we’re headed into a new season I think the key is to buy darker colored rompers. Darker colored rompers are more fall like than if I bought a bright pink romper (you know what I mean?). I also love how this romper has a bit of a sleeve to it, it makes for a great transitional piece from summer to fall. I love the satiny finish to this romper and think you could dress it up or down by playing w accessories. The color of this romper and the length of the sleeves makes it a great transitional fall piece.
This Apple Watch band, is so cute! It doesn’t necessarily scream fall fashion trend but it could be one depending what you style it with. I’ve never seen a pink acrylic band but I love this. It dresses up your Apple Watch, but if you like the more casual band with every outfit, then this probably isn’t for you. Getting the links taken out could be annoying, so something to take into consideration.
So I’ve been EYEING the Levi light colored 501 skinny jeans for awhile. But, right now, I don’t feel like spending $98 on a pair of jeans. I know it’s not too bad of a price because jeans last a long time, but listen, I wear dark unripped jeans 98.9 percent of the time. It’s just more my style, but when I go out at school, I tend to either go for black jeans or I’ll want light colored jeans with a few, tasteful rips. So I found what I think to be the perfect dupe for the Levi 501 skinny jeans, this pair from Abercrombie look pretty similar! I just bought them, they came in the mail today and I LOVE them. 10 out of 10. They’re perfect for fall because jeans are ALWAYS a fall fashion trend.

Summer activities
Summer is the prime season to do fun summer activities with friends and family. I’ve been compiling pictures from recent short trips and day trips to write a post on things to do in the summer. Hopefully, this post gives you a number of ideas so you can get planning on summer activities. Before we know it, Fall rolls around.
One of my favorite summer activities is just simply walking around a city or downtown area. One of my roommates reached out to me to stay at her friends apartment in Manhattan. So for a night we stayed in her super cute Manhattan apartment, ordered in food, and went out on the town at night.
The following day, we spent time walking around the city, taking pictures and getting brunch. It sounds like such a casual summer day/weekend but girls trips are the BEST. So yes, we got lucky for this girls trip that someone offered us their apartment for the night, but you don’t need that for a girls trip day/weekend. If you’re near a city, take the train in and just spend the day walking through parks, dining at some yummy restaurant finds (always check Pinterest for picture perfect spots) and talking with your girlfriends.
If you’re not close to a city, a fun thing to do in the summer is to go to a downtown area. Unless you’re living in the middle of nowhere, there is most likely a downtown area somewhere by you, look it up if you don’t know! Downtown areas are an amazing summer activity and a fun thing to do in the summer because there is most likely LOTS of shopping, (woohoo) good restaurants and bars. Going downtown is a great thing to do in either the day or night. It’s by far one of my top summer activities. Even if you don’t want to spend money, just getting outside, walking around and being with friends is fun and something to do in the summer.
When my best friends visited from Connecticut I had two plans in mind for the weekend that they came. One, was go to the beach (duh) and the other was to go downtown into Red Bank. It’s really one of the best summer activities because you’re out and about, unplugged from your phone and enjoying time with your girlfriends.
Summer concerts are another one of my favorite things to do in the summer. You can find small bars, amphitheatres or arenas by you that have SUPER cheap tickets or no fee at all. Even if you don’t know the artist or who’s performing, it’s a great night out with friends. I think you’re bound to have a good time when music is involved.
I hope this post gave you some ideas on things to do in the summer! Before we know it fall is here so get all your summer activities in now!

Swimwear guide
Summer is in FULL swing. I honestly don’t remember it ever being this hot in New Jersey. With it being July, I thought it was appropriate to do a swimwear guide and show you some of my current, affordable swimwear favorites.
So last year, high waisted bathing suit bottoms were just coming into style and becoming popular. This year, high waisted bathing suit bottoms are the it trend for swimwear.
Last year, I think the it trend were one pieces. I love both, I think they’re both flattering for every body type too.
I think style wise, always go for the style you’re most comfortable in, whether that be your traditional two piece, high waisted bottoms or a one piece. But, then play with prints and patterns to bring yourself a little out of your comfort zone.
I chose my favorites in my swimwear guide based off what I’m comfortable in. I LOVE leopard, it’s a huge fashion trend right now. On a bathing suit I love the print even more. Right now, I’m also loving the high waisted bottoms. You’ll see that all through out my swimwear guide.
CURRENT SWIMWEAR FAVORITES:
Leopard print bikini
Striped pastel swimsuit
Green swimsuit
Tan tie front bikini
Sometimes, people think one pieces are covering up your body. Today, they have so many cool and different one pieces to choose from. But, I love the simple ones with patterns, it makes the swimsuit so fun. I love the pastel swimsuit above that’s apart of my current swimwear favorites because it’s girly, yet comfortable. I love the pastel colors in it!
Below I have pictures apart of my swimwear guide from a recent trip to Long Beach Island. And surprise, one is my Mom’s bathing suit from the 80’s. It’s crazy how styles come back in, I love it. It’s one of my favorite bathing suits now.
You’ll also see me in leopard, shocker.. I love the leopard bikini bottoms in the pictures below, the bottoms are from Nasty Gal. Nasty Gal is one of my favorite places to buy swimwear. They have a great selection of different styles and sizes are always in stock! It’s a win, win situation.
Hair accessories are HUGE right now. So of course I added hair accessories to my swimwear guide. Forever 21, francesca’s and H&M have the best affordable hair accessories that I’ve seen. I’ll have a blog post guide with affordable accessories soon. Adding an accessory can change the entire look of an outfit or a swimsuit.
You’ll see because I’m wearing a black bikini top, I took the print from the bottoms into my hair accessory. This way, there is not too much leopard. But, simple hair scarfs without a print are great too. They add just a little something more. Definitely play with accessories and incorporate them into your swimwear!

These Nasty Gal bikini bottoms are $8 dollars right now!
