Affordable Accessories
I’m all for accessories but I never want to spend more then $15 on a pair of statement earrings. It’s not like I’m wearing them every day or even every week, so why would I stretch my wallet for fun earrings or headbands to wear every now and then?
This post will give you a breakdown of the best affordable accessories out there.
The best affordable accessories
francesca’s
Not always under that $15 BUT the store always has buy one, get one or other deals like that! They have great statement accessories for an affordable price.
I was just browsing their site and saw these for $10…I’m obsessed!
Shein
Shein doesn’t always have the best quality clothing, but you’ve heard me talk about Shein’s bathing suits and statement earrings. Nearly every pair of statement earrings I have are from Shein. They’re all under $5 and the quality is the same as Francessca’s (in my opinion).
Target
So I ran to Target to pick up cookies and somehow ended up by all the statement earrings. Target partnered with BaubleBar, it’s called SugarFix. The earrings look JUST like regular BaubleBar earrings, but the Target ones are MORE THAN half the price.
Sidenote, I don’t find BaubleBar earrings to be worth the price tag. I went through a phase wanting all statement jewlery from there, but I found the quality to be lacking!! BaubleBar’s customer service is great though, my Adina ring lost multiple gemstones and they kept sending me new ones.
H&M
They’re aren’t the BEST of quality, but they do the job and have super cute and fun choices for affordable accessories!
For right now, these are my favorite spots to find afforable statement accessories!

Big/Little Reveal 2019
This past Monday was Big/Little reveal for my sorority at Quinnipiac, Kappa Alpha Theta.
Before I jump into the night of reveal I’m going to give you the details on the shirts I chose, in case you want them too!
Being a crazy planner, I ordered my shirts in the middle of September, to ENSURE they’d get here by reveal (Oct. 7). Sure enough, they came three days in advance. I suggest ordering sonner rather than later, so your family can have super fun shirts!
Etsy is a go too for personalized, unique pieces. Although, make sure you read reviews and order from a good shop! I ordered from RLittleCompany, they were great. I went with the Rolling Stones inspired shirts because they were so fun and different.
OK ONTO THE DAY OF REVEAL
I found out who my little was a week before reveal. I took to Facebook to make her an account of old embarissing pictures and attempted to make her wonder who I am. I remember being on the other side of things and just being so excited. I wanted my little to feel that same way.
So after a week of Facebook fun and sending her crafts (I struggled very much with the whole crafting aspect of this, lol) it was the Monday of reveal. WOOO!
I was so lucky my Big and Gbig could be there. They both graduated but are smarty pants in grad school. Luckily, they could make reveal!
After reveal and many pictures later, we went to Eli’s, a popular restaurant by Quinnipiac. We ordered a ton of appetizers and caught up with one another.
My big, Erica, choked on a chip. Yes, we were all concerned, but she was still talking!!?? She insists that when she went to get it up A FULL CHIP came out. Looking back, it’s so funny.
It was a great night, and I’m still feeling extra grateful Theta brought such beautiful people into my life.
WELCOME TO THE FAM, MY PERFECT VANESSA!
Sorority Recruitment Recap
Well for some schools it’s sorority recruitment season and for others, sorority recruitment isn’t until the spring semester! I’m SUPER impatient so I’m happy sorority recruitment is over labor day weekend here. In my sorority at Quinnipiac University, Kappa Alpha Theta, we just welcomed 36 beautiful and smart ladies to the Theta family.
If you haven’t went through the sorority recruitment process yet, read my guide to the process, here.
Below you’ll find a run through of our days, it’s done very differently than most schools. Some state schools have their recruitment over the span of two weeks. I’d go crazy because I’m so impatient and I’d also have no voice. I really don’t know how they do it. It’s a long, tiring weekend but one that every school year I look forward to.

Day 1, 2 and 3 of Sorority Recruitment at Quinnipiac University
Day 1 is a simple day. It’s almost like how I’d imagine speed dating. You’re asking common questions to potential new members (PNM’s). For instance, what’s your major? Where are you from? Or, why did you choose this college? This is the longest day because your sorority is talking to every PNM at your school!
Day 2 is philanthropy round of sorority recruitment at Quinnipiac. Philanthropy is a LARGE part of a sorority, and it should be one of the reasons why you even want to rush a sorority. Kappa Alpha Theta’s philanthropy is CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). I love our philanthropy and what it does for children in the foster system, you can read more about CASA, here.
Day 3 is Quinnipiac’s pref round. This is where you select a girl you really connected with to talk to for a good half hour. Some sororities may have something special they do before the pref’s leave. It’s the sororities last chance to leave a lasting impression on the prefs.
Pref round is the shortest round because now you have really narrowed down your potential new members! YAY! During sorority recruitment at Quinnipiac, half of day 3 is pref round and the other half is Bid Day. As long as the weekend is, before you know it sorority recruitment is over!
I take you through the days with the pictures below!
Day 1
Day 2
Day 3
***We didn’t take pictures before the Bid Day portion of the day. For reference on our last day we wore black dresses.***
I hope you can guess the theme, but if not, it’s basically pajama/slumber party themed!
Casual outfit for day and night
Two posts back I said I’d have the details on the casual outfit I wore on my night out in Jersey City.
That day, I was going back and forth for awhile on what to wear out. My other option was a pair of girlfriend jeans, a simple white cami bodysuit and a pair of bright red mules, for a fun pop of color.
I decided on wearing white jeans, a beige crop top and black espadrilles. I paired this casual outfit with a straw bag (reminded me of a mini picnic basket) and I tied a leopard printed scarf around the bag. The reason I chose this casual outfit and not the other look was because I can only wear white jeans for so long (and I LOVE white jeans). I had to take advantage of the fact that it was still summer and I could wear white jeans. In a few weeks it’ll be fall and I’ll no longer be able to wear my favorite white denim out at night *sheds tears.* This outfit is great too because it works both during the day or night.
When I’m going for a night time look I love a curled midi ponytail. I think if I was wearing this outfit during the day I would’ve kept my hair down, but for some reason the updo strikes me as a good night look.
The top is from a local boutique called Lucki Clover. I’m pretty sure you can order off of their Instagram. Click here to shop their Instagram! Lucki Clover is one of my favorite boutiques. I rarely go to the mall now because I find everything I need at Lucki Clover. I’m not alone in loving this store, my Connecticut roomies will visit and one of the first things they want to do is go to Red Bank and shop at Lucki Clover.
I’ve talked about these white jeans before and I’m talking about them again. I found these stretchy, high waisted white jeans from MARSHALLS. Like what?!! I never expected to find my favorite jeans there but I did. Usually, stretchy jeans start off fitted, but then overtime over stretch and become too big. NOT THESE. I’ll post the brand of them once I get home. I highly recommend them!
The cross body was my friend Jess’s. I have the circle straw bag, but I didn’t bring it with me on this trip. I loved her bag because the strap was white, matching the jeans and again, it reminded me of a little picnic basket. These straw like bags are one of the biggest summer trends and it has been for the past two summers. To add something to the outfit and tie it all together, I used one of my hair scarves that had the beige, white and black coloring.
